Poker News - Ketul Nathwani victorious at GUKPT: Leg 3

Ketul Nathwani victorious at GUKPT: Leg 3

That's the lesson Ketul Nathwani took home after parlaying his chip lead at the Grosvenor U.K. Poker Tour: Leg 3 final table into overall victory today.

Nathwani, who went deep in the 2007 WSOP main event, entered play with $1.2 million in chips and first place in the chip counts. Dan Samson was second with $650,000 while the rest of the final table leveled out around the $300,000 mark.

Taking place at the prestigious Vic in London Leg 3 of the GUKPT saw 424 runners all put down the £1000 to get in on some No-Limit Hold'em action. A number of professional players including David Colclough, Praz Bansi, Barny Boatman and Neil Channing participated in the event.

Nathwani actually doubled up Tony Phillips in the early going but it didn't slow the chip giant down. Nathwani did get lucky against 5th place finisher Maria Demetriou when he hit a flush with #Qh-#8h against her #Ad-#Td. Soon after, Nathwani eliminated Steve Jelinek in sixth place when A-K triumphed over pocket tens.

Going into four-handed play Nathwani held $2 million in chips, which was almost the same as the remaining players held combined.

Nathwani did get caught making a move with Q-2 and was called by David Rudling with A-J. Nathwani hit the deuce on the board and Rudling hit the rail. Dan Samson was the next to go when he shoved all-in with pocket tens and got called by Nathwani who held A-J. Suffice to say Nathwani hit an ace yet another player was eliminated by Nathwani.

Heads-up was extremely short with Nathwani holding $3.8 million to Tony Phillips' $450,000. It all came down to 5-5 versus A-2. Nathwani happened to be holding 5-5 and for once the better hand held up and it all over at the Vic.

Nathwani won the GUKPT: Leg 3 title, a buy-in to the GUKPT Grand Final and £119,780. Not too shabby. Next up for the GUKPT is Leg 4: Manchester.
