Poker News - Titan Poker sending players to San Remo

Titan Poker sending players to San Remo

Prott, from Austria, and Lemau, from France, were both awarded $10,000 prize packages for the EPT event taking place April 1-5 in San Remo, Italy.

The prize package covers the €5,000 buy-in for the event, plus money for travel and accommodation.

The San Remo event is new to the European Poker Tour this season. If the other events for Season 4 are any indicator, though, it should bring quite a bit of money to the winner.

Starting with the Barcelona Open back in August, Sander Lylloff pocketed €1,170,700, and since then the payouts have ranged from €532,620 for first place in the Dublin event to the $2 million Bertrand Grospellier picked up in the Caribbean Adventure.

"It's amazing that I'll be taking part in a live tournament for the first time," said Prott after winning his seat to the San Remo event, where millions of dollars could be potentially on the line. "Many thanks to Titan Poker for this opportunity!"

Lamau is just as excited about heading to Italy for the event.

"Thank you Titan Poker for making my dreams come true by sending me to the EPT San Remo - and for just $40, as I earned my place in a satellite!" Lamau said. "Three months ago I also finished 34th place in Titan Poker's $1 million Guaranteed Prize Tournament, winning $5,000!"

Titan Poker hands out plenty of seats and other prizes to its players. Along with the EPT San Remo seats, the site has dished out Aussie Million, World Series of Poker, World Poker Showdown, Irish Open and other EPT event seats.

The poker site also recently signed on as the main sponsor of the Eurocity Poker Tour, which is hosting its inaugural event, the Madrid Open, in May.

The European Championship of Online Poker II will also take place on Titan Poker this May with $3.5 million in guaranteed cash spread through 10 days of events.

Bill Edler signs with Poker Royalty

Bill Edler has been in the poker scene for quite a few years, playing poker to get himself through college and then becoming a prop player at the Casino San Pablo in San Francisco's East Bay.

There he was eventually promoted to poker room manager, and through that position hired and became friends with Erick Lindgren.

Over the years he's been building a reputation as a good guy and a solid player in the poker community, but in 2007 the rest of the world got to see how talented Edler really is as well.

In February 2007, he bubbled the televised final table of the World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic. He followed that up by making the final table of the WPT Bay 101 event in March 2007, going out in sixth place.

He finally got a major event win at the 2007 World Series of Poker. He topped a field of 728 players to win the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Six-Handed event. He even made a good run in the Main Event, coming in 23rd out of 6,358 players.

That success continued as he went into the WPT Gulf Coast Poker Championship in September 2007. At one point, it looked like his luck might have run out when he was down to two $1,000 chips, but he battled back to win the event.

Then in October, he cashed deep in the WPT North American Poker Championship. All told, Edler's successful year brought him $3.5 million in 2007 tournament winnings.

As Edler embarks on another year of poker, he will have Poker Royalty helping with the other opportunities that come his way.

"It is an honor to be represented by Poker Royalty. They are, of course, on top of the profession," Edler said. "In addition, it is a fantastic group of my friends who work at Poker Royalty. I could not be more pleased."

Since signing with Poker Royalty, Edler secured a sponsorship with Full Tilt Poker and was invited to play in the 2008 National Heads-Up Poker Championship.

"Bill's new relationship with Full Tilt Poker, and his subsequent invitation to the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship, presents him with a fantastic opportunity to reach a broader base of fans," said Chris Porter, Poker Royalty director of sales and marketing. "Bill has a very bright future ahead of him, and we look forward to working with him throughout his career."

brandoncantu.jpgBrandon Cantu, who has won both a World Poker Tour and a World Series of Poker event, won the 2008 Bay 101 Shooting Star main event, pocketing more $1 million with the victory. He ran over the final table after coming into the last day with a huge chip lead.

That final table included Jennifer Harman-Traniello and John Phan — but neither they nor the rest of the competitors could put a serious dent in Cantu’s stack.

In addition to the $1 million first prize, he added $30,000 for knocking out six “shooting stars.” And he won another $10,000 for his chip lead after day 1A.

Urindanger, guaranteed376 swap $100k pots

And when you lose one, apparently you just keep playing until one comes back your way.

So it went again last night and into the wee hours of this morning for high-stakes regulars Di "Urindanger" Dang and guaranteed376, who went toe-to-toe in a session of $300/$600 No-Limit Hold'em at Full Tilt Poker, swapping $100k pots like they were nothing more than old hockey cards.

Both have been very active at the high-stakes tables in the last few weeks. Dang, in fact, was coming off an epic nine-hour session the night before with another online rival, x13full, which ended with him up well over $100k.

guaranteed376 has had a lineup of high-stakes regulars a mile long waiting to take him on since a big session with Phil Ivey a few weeks ago, and has obliged most of them willingly, regardless of outcome.

Total results for their latest session are unknown, but the two definitely teed off on each other in some big pots.

Each took his fair share, but a $163,997 pot to guaranteed376 with pocket queens was the biggest of the session, and biggest Hold'em pot of the week so far.

Full Tilt allows more than one account for CardRunners players

full_tilt_logo4.gifFull Tilt Poker recently announced a deal with the Web site CardRunners.com that will have many of its top young poker players join the online poker site to play. The biggest news to come out of this, beyond the signing itself, has been a change to FTP policy to allow CardRunners players to have more than one account.

From pokerkingblog.com:

Full Tilt have announced that they will be making an exception to their “one account per player” policy. They will basically be allowing Cardrunner pros to use “alternate” accounts while they are filming their instructional videos. These “alternate” accounts would be used to disguise the true identities of the person behind the account, presumably so as not to influence the play of the other people at the table while the filming is taking place.

Also, Full Tilt goes on to say that at the end of the recorded session, all of the other players at the table will be notified by email as to what happened, and they will be rewarded with a “small token of appreciation” for their participation.

Lastly, Full Tilt states that anyone who loses money to the pro will be given “additional compensation”, but doesn’t say exactly what that would be. FTP points? A hat? Reimbursement of their lost funds? One can only assume that the player will not be getting their money back.

Whole thing here.

The possible problems are many, from FTP making exceptions to its own rules for pros, to regular players possibly feeling cheated because of playing against a “hidden” pro.

There has been quite a buzz on many poker forums about this issue, and a lot of questions about this policy change remain unanswered. Look for more as this story develops.
